Five Element Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a medicine that originated in ancient China thousands of years ago. In Nature, there are the elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water), and it is these which are the building blocks for life. We are all made up of the elements, and they all work in harmony with one another to ensure balance in living beings.

Illness arises when an imbalance occurs.

The idea behind the medicine is to treat the root cause of imbalance. In doing so, it follows that symptoms will be treated.

This then makes room for all people to be viewed as individuals in the process of healing, as opposed to experiencing an impersonal, one-size-fits-all appointment. It is holistic and treats the mind, body and spirit.

Because of this, Five Element acupuncturists take the time to really get to know patients over a course of treatment (I recommend starting with 6-8 weekly treatments). The initial session is longer; it begins with a consultation plus the first treatment, which can last up to 3 hours. Subsequent treatments are usually about an hour long.

Acupuncture is a rather profound form of medicine that, with multiple treatments, can truly help to build up energy, balance and the means to maintaining health.

"I came to see Yangdzom whilst she was transitioning from student to qualified practitioner and could feel instantly the joy and curiosity she had for acupuncture. We began a course of treatment during a significantly difficult time I was experiencing with my mental health and wellbeing. Yangdzom was of great support, providing a space of warmth and sensitivity where I felt open and willing to share what was troubling me. On each visit, her treatments attuned my energy and brightened my mind, gradually helping to rebuild my confidence, creativity, and light-heartedness. I have much to thank Yangdzom for. The authenticity and humility in which she practises Five Element Acupuncture will only continue to flourish."
